Palm City
Although unincorporated, Palm City, Florida in Martin County has an unmistakable identity of its own. It is a thriving community considerably changed from its rural beginnings.
Palm City remains close to the image of those who were involved in its early development. It is a product of the trend toward town centers which gained popularity in Florida to counteract the effect of urban sprawl that sometimes overtakes rapidly growing communities.
Palm City's location close to 1-95 makes commuting easy. Its close proximity to several beautiful waterways makes the living especially pleasant. Situated on the South Fork of the St. Lucie River, the community's recently improved Leighton Park gives residents even more accessibility to these waterways. The park's new boat ramps, at the west end of Palm City Bridge, enable boaters to go south to the St. Lucie Lock along the Okeechobee Waterway (which reaches from Florida's Atlantic Coast to its Gulf Coast) or north to Stuart, the county seat.
